Donation from Waterman Seed Production Supports Breast Cancer at Kish Cancer Center

KishHealth Foundation accepted a generous donation on Oct. 26 from Waterman Seed Production for The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. With the support of the employees, harvest truck drivers, and farmers in the Rock Falls growing area, the Waterman Seed Production Site raised $5,130 during the months of September and October for breast cancer support.
Sherry Uhrich, RN, site nurse stated, “The initial goal was to raise around $1,000 by selling pink hard hats, which employees could wear during the month of October at work to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. Then employee Rachel Enfield suggested that we also design and sell t shirts to go along with the hard hats.” The generous support from all involved resulted in over 500 pink hard hats and t-shirts, sporting the DeKalb Ag winged ear logo, to be sold to help raise funds.
The donation will be split between two funds that the currently established by KishHealth Foundation. The donation will be used to assist indigent cancer patients who are unable to afford care and medication and will also go to continue breast cancer support programs.
